CONFESSION: I can never bring myself to replace Bianca with a more powerful weapon. I felt like I was tearing apart Varric’s love-life when I did it the first time.

i get like this with weapons too. cousland’s shield, sten’s asala (think that’s the name?), wesley’s shield. if the characters are attached to them then i am too.

i never really thought about it, but that’s true for me too — i haven’t replaced any of those, except for wesley’s shield. sten always has asala, varric always has bianca, and i’ve done it with other things that companions have seemed attached to (like amulets and things like that).

i’m a sucker for vicarious sentimentality.

elijah doesn’t put faith in the maker. at all. the only thing he’s willing to believe is that, if there is a maker at all, he’s certainly turned his face from the world.
andraste, sure — eli can believe that there was a ~~mage~~ woman named andraste who might have used a particularly potent hallucination or a visit from a benevolent spirit to make history. but that’s about it.

he understands qunari better than he understands andrastians. deity worship never rubbed him the right way. there is nothing a deity can do for him that some hedge magic can’t accomplish just as well, and a life like his doesn’t suggest that any god is looking out for him, not at all.

put simply — eli hawke ain’t got time for that.

but he loves stories, so he’ll listen to merrill’s tales of the creators, the gods the dalish venerate. because they’re good stories. he listens to them with the same interest as he would to one of varric’s yarns.

It’s a choose-your-own-adventure sort of fandom where many of the choices only lead to drama. I think I’ve been lucky so far in picking the right pages.
